A night-shift baggage attendant's only job is the Unclaimed Room: after 90 days, luggage nobody came for gets opened, catalogued, and auctioned. She's good at it because she can tell everything about a person from what they packed — until a battered green suitcase circles Carousel 4 with HER name on the tag, in HER handwriting, from a flight she never took.
Escalation
- She opens it. Inside: her exact clothes in her exact size, a boarding pass for a city she's never been, and a receipt from a diner dated three days from now — proof she's meant to travel, not stay.
- She starts checking the manifest and realizes the bag arrived on a flight that landed with no matching passenger; the airline has no record of a body, a claim, or a name. Every night the diner receipt's date advances one day closer to today, ink still wet.
- To stop it she keeps the suitcase locked in her locker — and passengers begin approaching the counter asking for HER by name, describing a version of her who greeted them at a gate she's never worked, in a terminal that was demolished in 2009.
- On the receipt's final date she finally flies to the phantom city, and in its arrivals hall finds a Carousel 4 identical to her own, where a battered green suitcase is already circling — its tag reading the name of the airport she left behind.

The Unclaimed Room isn't where forgotten luggage ends up — it's where forgotten *people* are quietly re-routed; she was reported missing years ago, and cataloguing the abandoned bags was the airline of the dead teaching her, gently, how to finally claim her own.
💡 The engine is dramatic irony as slow reveal: an expert who reads strangers by their luggage is the one thing she's blind to — herself.
